In 1972, Thomas F. Hursen with the cooperation of a manufacturing colleague started the Easy Use Air Tools, Inc. Company. As the demand for the air knife increased, Tom adapted the original tool to accommodate various professions to meet their specific needs. The X-LT air knife is designed with lightweight aluminum for the arborist who prefers a lightweight tool when working around trees, shrubs, etc. The X-ST2 air knife consists of stainless steel and brass for the utility worker whose working environment is more rigorous than the arborist.
In 2000, Tom changed the name of the company to Supersonic Air Knife, Inc. to emphasize the fact that his tools produce a supersonic jet of air at MACH 1.7.
Today, Supersonic Air Knife, Inc. manufactures eight different air tools which have the compressor capability range of 90 psi to 125 psi/185cfm for the smaller tools and 90 psi to 125 psi/375 cfm for the larger tools.
Specialty tools are also available and include: the liquid injection air knives which allow a liquid to be added to the air stream, the air vacuum tools which complement the air knife by removing the debris that is loosened by it, and a dielectric barrel air knife for electrically isolating work.
